When air travel first became a convenience, it was the actresses, stewardesses, and those of us woman in business who first notice the change in our skin when we travel by air. That was more then twenty years ago. Today, even greater numbers of people fly.

If they are to protect their skin, they must realize how the air in the pressurized cabins can draw the moisture from the skin and leave it feeling dry, sensitive and tight. it may even flake.

Ever since air travel became a popular way of life, I have advice to all woman out there to lubricate and moisturize their skin when in flight. Today i stress this safety precaution for your skin, particularly for those who fly often.

The first thing you have to do is on the morning before your next flight, touch your cheeks, hands, neck and face before applying your makeup or getting dressed. Make a mental note of how your skin feels. Then, thirty minutes after takeoff, repeat the experiment and compare. Finally, half an hour before landing, try it again. Now compare your different descriptions. Has your skin grown drier and more sensitive to the touch? Look at your hands. Do they appear wrinkled and tight?

Traveling on plane does not even to your skin but your body as well such as:
  • Low oxygen make you feel sleepy and dizziness
  • Blood collecting in your feet could make them swell or worst
  • You can get dehydrate
  • Shifts in cabin pressure make you gassy
  • Your taste buds may dull
  • Air shift can make you toothache
  • Absolutely your skin will loses moisture
And much more on.....

It does not matter you are in the air fifty minutes from New York to Toronto or twenty-hours from San Francisco to Australia, flying is still going to dehydrate your skin significantly.

You must prepare your skin for air travel,in advance. Here are my suggestions for the extra care it needs.

WHAT TO PACK FOR SKINCARE IN FLIGHT

Be sure to pack a special pouch in your carry-on bag, containing:
Half an hour before landing, cleanse your hands and face thoroughly @ skincareinfoleaders
  1. A packet of very mild cleansing pads or a mild cleansing lotion and cotton.
  2. Heavy lubricant cream, richer in texture than normally used
  3. An eye cream, sticky and heavy in texture, which should be used in flight, not only around the eyes but also as a lip pomade and nail cuticle softener.
  4. Hand cream.
  5. Peeling mask. Used on trips of four to six hours or longer.
If your skin is oily, and you have been using a skin cleanser for oily skin, pack a milder cleansing lotion for the trip. No lubricant is necessary, but apply a light moisturizer.

If your skin is dry, pack a heavier lubricant and moisturizer then usual. Reapply every half hour in flight or whenever your skin starts to feel tight.

Massage eye cream into your cuticles every thirty minutes. If your flight is longer then four hours, here is a way to look your best on arrival at your destination:

  • Half an hour before landing, cleanse your hands and face thoroughly.
  • Apply a peeling mask (do not confuse with a peel-off mask) as you would any other mask, thickly and evenly
  • Wait for five minutes or until dry.
  • Rotate each area lightly and evenly with round movements until the musk is removed. The dry surface of your skin should slough off, leaving it fresh an moist. Refresh with cold water or rosewater spray.
  • Use your moisturizer.
  • If you are using makeup, reapply it before landing.
Preventive care does not end with your flight. As you pick up your bags at the arrival gate, your skin is already adjusting to the changes of a new environment, and you should be aware of it's climate, air quality and foods and how they can effect you.

An instant change of climate can actually shock the body and skin, so do pack the right clothes and cosmetics. On arrival in a high-altitude climate, plan to reserve at least one day to rest before you go off to the ski slopes or hike to see the view. Take it easy and rest in bed while your system adjusts.

In hot climates, unless you are certain of the source, watch what you eat and drink only bottled water, particularly in exotic countries and on tropical islands. Stay away from following when served on a buffet table: sea foods and mayonnaise, chocolate cake, and other foods that spoil easily in hot climate.

Avoid tap water for cleansing your skin and use bottled water instead.

The same goes for fruits and vegetables. Buy them fresh, but wash them thoroughly in bottled water before eating, and peel all skins off fruits. Avoid raw salads, and choose cooked foods where you are not sure of the source of vegetables.
